How to Grow Broccoli Microgreen Seeds – Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Soak the Seeds : Soak the microgreen broccoli seeds in clean water for 4–6 hours before sowing to improve germination.

  2. Prepare the Growing Tray : Fill a tray with 1–2 inches of well-draining potting mix or coco coir. Moisten it lightly.

  3. Sow the Seeds :Evenly scatter the soaked seeds over the surface. Gently press them into the soil.

  4. Cover and Keep Moist : Cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil or another tray. Keep the surface moist by misting once or twice daily.

  5. Wait for Germination (2–3 Days) : Keep the tray covered for 2–3 days in a warm spot until sprouts appear.

  6. Expose to Light : Once sprouts emerge, remove the cover and place the tray where it gets 4–6 hours of indirect sunlight or under grow lights.

  7. Continue Watering : Mist lightly every day to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Ensure good airflow to prevent mold.

  8. Harvest : Your broccoli microgreen seeds will be ready for harvest within 7–10 days. Cut the microgreens with garden scissors just above the soil line when they reach 2–3 inches in height.

Three of us eat this daily now

My husband, me, my mother-in-law. Broccoli microgreens in something every morning. Growing two trays now in parallel to keep up with demand. Seeds are doing their job.

Made broccoli microgreen pesto

Blended them with basil, walnuts, olive oil, garlic. The flavour was intense, green, complex. Used on pasta. Would not have guessed microgreens could go into pesto. They can.

Reliable germination in home garden

Taste is mildly bitter expected

If you've eaten broccoli you know the mild bitterness. Microgreens carry it. Not unpleasant. Just know what you're getting. Seeds are quality and germination was strong.

Good germination results in terrace garden

From germination to early growth, the plants remained healthy and showed uniform development.

Consistent harvest after 3 attempts

First attempt: overwatered. Second: underlit. Third: got it right. Day 7 harvest. Beautiful dense green tray. Seed quality is not the variable here technique is.

Anusha Balaji

These seeds adapted well to my local climate and produced strong seedlings that were easy to maintain.

Small pack, big utility

50g is plenty for solo growers doing one tray at a time. I grow one tray per week. Three weeks in and still have seeds. Good economy.

Needs more light than I gave it

My north-facing kitchen window wasn't enough. Plants went pale. Moved to direct morning sun colour returned. These want light. Don't learn this the hard way like me.

Turned Out Better Than Expected

Tried these for my home setup and got a nice, even crop. Very manageable and a good option for regular growing.

Research-backed home growing

Read three papers on broccoli microgreens and glucosinolates before buying. Now I'm four trays deep. The science and the practice are aligned here. Glad I started.

Two trays per packet realistically

50g gave me two good trays and then seeds ran low. For regular weekly growing, stock up. Would recommend buying the 100g version if available.

Germination is fast but uniform issues

About 20% of my tray had bare patches. Seed spread was slightly uneven my fault. Where seeds landed, germination was near-perfect. Better distribution next time.

Sulforaphane in a tray

I started growing broccoli microgreens specifically after reading the sulforaphane research. These grew cleanly, harvested on day 8, dense little green rosettes. Scientific literature delivered to my plate.

Consistent density across entire tray

Full coverage. Every inch of coco peat had seedlings. No dead zones. That kind of germination uniformity tells you something about seed selection quality.

Guest at my home thought these were store bought

Served broccoli microgreens in a salad at a dinner party. A guest asked where I buy them. When I said I grow them at home she didn't believe me until I showed the tray.

Added to morning juice

Juiced broccoli microgreens with cucumber and ginger. Green and grassy and clean. Colour was deep. Woke me up faster than coffee. Probably placebo. Still doing it.

Day 7 harvest, perfect timing

Seed to harvest in exactly 8 days

Planted Monday evening. Harvested Tuesday next week. 8 days on the dot. Efficient growing cycle, decent yield, clean flavour. What more do you want.

V
Vasanthi Murugan
Wish the seeds were slightly larger

Tiny seeds, need careful handling during spread. A few rolled off the tray edge. Fine overall. Germination strong. Packaging note only.
