Soapnut powder (also called Reetha powder or Boondikottai powder in Tamil) is a natural cleanser made from the dried fruit of the Soapnut tree (Sapindus mukorossi). How to Use Soapnut Powder for Hair

Method 1 – Simple Hair Wash

1. Take 1–2 tablespoons of soapnut powder.

2. Mix with water to make a smooth paste.

3. Apply to wet scalp and hair.

4. Gently massage for 3–5 minutes.

5. Rinse well with plain water.

Method 2 – Herbal Hair Wash Mix (for silky hair)

• Mix together:

  • 1 tbsp soapnut powder

  • 1 tbsp shikakai powder

  • 1 tbsp amla powder

  • (Optional: 1 tbsp arappu powder or hibiscus powder)

• Combine with warm water or curd to make a paste.

• Apply to scalp and hair, leave for 10–15 minutes, then rinse.

Tips

• Use once or twice a week as a shampoo alternative.

• Avoid contact with eyes (soapnut can sting slightly).

• Store powder in an airtight container away from moisture.
