Marjoram seed planting

1. Soil

• Well-drained, loose soil is best.
• pH: 6.5–7.5
• Mix compost/FYM with the soil.
• Avoid waterlogging.

2. Seed sowing

• Marjoram seeds are very small, so do not bury them deeply.
• Sow about 0.3–0.5 cm deep or simply press them lightly into moist soil.
• Cover with a very thin layer of fine soil.
• Keep the soil consistently moist but not wet.

3. Germination

• Temperature: 18–25°C
• Germination usually takes 7–14 days.
• Once seedlings emerge, provide good sunlight.

4. Spacing
For field cultivation:

• Plant-to-plant: 20–30 cm
• Row-to-row: 30–45 cm

5. Watering

• Water lightly after sowing.
• After establishment, water when the top layer of soil begins to dry.
• Excess water can cause root problems.

6. Harvest

• First harvest is generally around 60–90 days after planting, depending on variety and growing conditions.
• Cut the stems just before or around flowering for good aroma and oil content.
