Happy with growth

The plants handled windy evenings on our apartment terrace much better than coriander or spinach. After nearly two months the stem became woody and stable. I trim the top often to encourage side leaves. Taste is close to village-grown murungai keerai from my childhood.

Little disappointed initially because germination started only after day 8. Later suddenly almost all emerged together after one evening rain. Maybe temperature issue from my side. Now the plants are around knee height and leaves are dense.

Honestly bought for shade near the west-facing balcony. Didn't expect this speed. After around 12 days, the saplings stretched rapidly and now my chilli pots sit under partial shade from these moringa plants. The leaf smell while touching is fresh, almost peppery. One packet had 2 damaged seeds but overall germination stayed excellent.

The aroma after watering early morning is something I didn't expect. Slight earthy smell mixed with fresh greens. Seed size was uniform too. Only one seed had fungus marks.

Unexpectedly tall

Very small review: happy leaves.

My paati wanted this exact variety because she said the leaves taste softer in curry. She was right actually. We harvested tender leaves within weeks and the bitterness was very low. Seeds were clean and not powdery inside the pack. Slight issue with courier delay, otherwise no complaints.

I don't usually write reviews but this was unexpectedly satisfying. My son planted two seeds for a school biology project and both germinated. Now he checks the height daily using a scale. We shifted one plant to open ground after 18 days and it adapted quickly.

S
Sourav

Aiyo these grew taller than my tomato stand.

D

Not all sprouted, but the ones that did are extremely healthy.

Neighbour asked seeds

Was searching specifically for Jaffna type after tasting it at a relative's house in Madurai. This one came close. Leaf texture softer, less fibrous. We planted before monsoon and by week three growth became aggressive. Chickens damaged two saplings but remaining ones are thriving.

Nice for terrace corners.

I tested these beside ordinary moringa seeds from a nearby nursery. Huge difference in early vigor. These seedlings pushed out new leaves faster and looked darker green. However they need bigger containers sooner than expected because roots spread rapidly.

More pods than expected

I had ignored the grow bag for nearly nine days during travel. Came back expecting dead seedlings. Instead the plants looked fresh and upright. That surprised me because most greens in my terrace collapse without daily care. These seem tougher than expected.

N
Nithila

Used around 40 seeds on farmland behind our borewell area. Soil there is sandy and harsh. Germination rate came close to 80 percent which is better than the local shop seeds we bought last year. A few seedlings bent during strong wind but recovered after staking. Planning another order before northeast monsoon.

I run a tiny rooftop garden beside my tailoring shop. Usually I avoid trees because roots crack containers. But this variety behaved nicely inside large drums. Trunk growth stayed controlled while side branches became bushy. Customers keep asking what plant it is because the foliage looks healthy even during hot afternoons.

Leaves everywhere

I planted these during peak April heat expecting maybe half to survive. Surprisingly almost every pit sprouted. The stems became thick very quickly and the leaves looked darker than the local moringa I usually grow near the fence. One thing though, the first week needed careful watering or the top soil cracked badly. After that, the plants handled the heat without drama. My father even cut some leaves for soup after one month.

H
Harini

First time trying moringa from this region. The difference I noticed was branch thickness. My older tree always grew lanky but these stayed sturdy even with heavy rain last monsoon. I use compost tea once in two weeks and growth became wild after that.

V
Viknesh

The packet looked simple so I didn't expect much. After soaking overnight, sprouts appeared in less than a week. By second month the plants were already casting enough shade for spinach trays below them. I even gifted some seedlings to my cousin in Erode.

Bit late but healthy

Bought mainly for herbal use at home. My mother dries the leaves and mixes them in dosa batter sometimes. Growth has been steady even in reused soil from old brinjal pots. No fungal issue till now.
